50 Years at Monkwearmouth School

Monkwearmouth as a school goes back around 70 years but 50 years ago on 6 February 1962 the “new” school opened at Torver Crescent, Seaburn Dene. Syrian Pen Pals

A group of year 10 students from Monkwearmouth School have been making friend with young people living in Syria. Syria has been in the news lately about what has been happening over there. Syria’s army have again bombarded the city of Homs and killed at least 50 people activists say, after the UN criticised the attack’s “appalling brutality”. Grease Is The Word!

It was time to dust off your leather jackets and pull on your bobby-socks and take a trip to a simpler time as ‘bad boy’ Danny and ‘the girl next door’ Sandy fell in love all over again. RTS Award Nomination

Following the success of the summer multimedia, site specific performance in Spottee’s cave in Roker, we have been nominated and shortlisted for the following awards. The Royal Television Society Award 2011 for best Commercial / Promotional Film, The Journal Culture Awards 2011 in the following categories; Arts Council Awards, Best Arts and Business Partnership and Best event in Sunderland. Monkwearmouth Schools Annual Awards evening took place on the evening of Thursday 12th January 2012 in front of an audience of almost 700 people at the magnificent surroundings of the Sunderland Empire Theatre.Parents, families and friends, staff and guests, celebrated the many academic, sporting and personal success and achievements of students.
